Did you know that the Outer Banks is home to some amazing golf courses? The next time you visit, you might want to put the golf clubs in the car with those fishing rods and explore our waterfront courses. If you want to experience Outer Banks golf on a budget, here are some very nice courses that won’t break the bank. You can even book tee times via GolfNow, with some courses offering those “Hot Deals” that can save you even more.

Nags Head Golf Links

This is the course I play most frequently as a local. Located on the soundfront and nestled in the Nags Head Village area, this is about the scenery and not necessarily the challenge. To get here, turn at the Outback and follow the road as it winds around to the sound. During the spring and fall seasons you can play 9 holes with a cart for as little as $19 via GolfNow. Even today in August, you could play 18 on a Saturday, with cart, for as little as $69. They have a clubhouse with everything you need, a grill located onsite if you need to grab lunch, and the best scenery of any golf course on the OBX – with a budget price. They also have a driving range and putting green, although the driving range doesn’t use real golf balls so be aware of that if you just want to find a place to hit balls for an hour. Nags Head Golf Links has a 91.5 score on GolfNow.

The Currituck Club in Corolla

If I just want to hit some golf balls on the range, this is where I go on the Outer Banks. It’s a gorgeous facility inside, some of the most friendly and helpful staff in the area, and one of the most well-maintained courses we have to offer. To get here, turn just before you reach the Harris Teeter shopping center. This course offers soundfront holes as well, but the views aren’t quite as nice as they are in Nags Head. The Currituck Club boasts an award-winning history, and this Rees Jones design has a great mix of challenging and creative holes. In the spring and fall you can find tee times with cart for as little as $39, however in the summer you would be hard-pressed to find something less than $75 for 18 holes. But there’s a lot of value still, due to the great facilities and friendly experience at the Currituck Club. There’s an outside patio where you (or your wife) can relax and enjoy a drink from the bar, a great way to relax and enjoy the scenery. The Currituck Club has a 91.9 score on GolfNow.

Kilmarlic Golf Club

Routinely ranked among North Carolina’s top 100 public golf courses, Kilmarlic has a sterling reputation. However the green fees are very reasonable if you want to experience one of the most highly regarded courses on the Outer Banks. Located in Powell’s Point (north of the Walmart and over the bridge), it’s only a few minutes away from Southern Shores despite not technically being part of the Outer Banks. Kilmarlic is all about the experience, bringing the same feel from prestigious courses that offer top-quality service and attention from the moment you arrive. All of the expected amenities are here, and even some you wouldn’t expect! Experienced golfers will enjoy this above all other courses here at the beach, due to the changes in elevation, carefully placed bunkers and water and sand challenges requiring precision and creativity. During the spring and fall you can bring a twosome here to play for $99 with cart. During the summer the price creeps up, however Kilmarlic offers an unmatched golf experience. A foursome can book a tee time for $340 in busy season, and it’s located close to the H2OBX water park which is only minutes away. So you can drop off the kids at the water park and meet your buddies at the course for an unforgettable day of Outer Banks golf. Kilmarlic has a 96.7 score on GolfNow.
