Have you ever wondered how much it costs to own a high-end luxury home on the beach? Here on the Outer Banks we have some amazing homes built by our incredible homebuilders. Some of the homes on this list are for rent, so if you’re thinking of taking an Outer Banks vacation you could book it and bring the family (maybe even second cousins too) for a trip they’ll never forget. Often these homes are built specifically to be used as vacation rentals, with high-end amenities and finishes. But they all have a few things in common – they are all 6+ bedrooms, they are all oceanfront, and they all have private pools. Ready to see the top 5 home sales on the Outer Banks in 2019? Let’s go!

Kill Devil Hills – $3.25 million

This home features 18 bedrooms and 18 full bathrooms. Built in 2014, this Mediterranean style home has custom Italian marble floors, hand-painted murals, and an oceanfront deck so large that 16 deck chairs are laid out for visitors to soak in the rays. It’s an extravagant home built for large families or groups and there is plenty of seating for dinners, plenty of bathrooms so no one has to share, and even a separate pool house for that crazy uncle who has a little too much fun on vacation.

Corolla – $3.15 million

Unlike other homes on this list, this home wasn’t used as a vacation rental. Instead it was used as a second home, and was well maintained before it sold last year. Built in 1997, this home has 9 bedrooms and 9 full baths. Inside you’ll find a 20-seat movie theater, a sauna, a custom limestone staircase greeting you when you walk in the front door and amazing custom woodwork framing the ocean views on the back of the house.

Corolla – $2.55 million

You’re not imagining it – that’s a custom 75-ft saltwater lighthouse swimming pool that looks absolutely incredible when looking out the back windows as you take in the ocean views. This home is built like a fortress, and offers an unmatched level of privacy. It has a steel observation tower with spiral staircase that was built in the Norfolk shipyards. You can see the sound and the ocean from the top. This 8 bedroom 7 bathroom home is available for rent.

Duck – $2.3 million

This 8 bedroom 9 bath home is unique because it’s currently being renovated after the new owners purchased it in 2019. We don’t know how things will look once the renovations are done, but we do know that the home features some of the best ocean views and access in Duck. A theater room, an arcade and a putting green are being added, so this oceanfront Duck home is going to get even better in 2020!

Corolla – $2.175 million

How would you like to relax on that deck and feel the warm ocean breeze this summer? This 6 bedroom 6 bath home on the oceanfront in Corolla was built in 1996, but it’s still a stunner. To the best of my knowledge this is not managed by a vacation rental company for 2020, so hopefully the owners are enjoying the beautiful ocean views and the private walkway past the hot tub, swimming pool, and straight out to the ocean.
